The Challenge

Delaware’s creative and entrepreneurial community had no centralized space designed specifically for women to connect, share resources, promote their businesses and build meaningful professional relationships.

I founded Delaware Female Creatives to help close that gap.

What began as an online community evolved into a larger brand ecosystem designed to create visibility, connection and tangible opportunities for women-owned businesses, creatives and entrepreneurs throughout Delaware and the surrounding region.

Building the Brand

I developed Delaware Female Creatives from the ground up, shaping the brand strategy, visual identity, voice and overall experience.

As the community grew, I created a flexible visual system capable of supporting social media, digital resources, website content, featured businesses, event promotion, partnerships and community initiatives while maintaining a recognizable and approachable brand.

The goal was never simply to create a polished identity. Every touchpoint needed to reinforce the same idea: community over competition and stronger opportunities through connection.

Growing the Digital Community

Social media became one of DFC’s primary tools for connecting members, introducing new businesses and extending the community beyond its existing audience.

Recent Instagram performance included:

  • 36,583 views in 90 days

  • 3,230 viewers

  • 750 content interactions

  • 776 profile visits

  • 47.7% of views generated by non-followers

  • Approximately 24,000 post views

  • Approximately 11,000 Reel views

Facebook added another layer of discovery and traffic during the same 90-day period, generating:

  • 2,500 viewers

  • 789 page visits

  • 171 content interactions

  • 65 link clicks

  • 36 new follows

The audience continues to extend beyond existing community members. In a recent 28-day period, 63.4% of Facebook views came from non-followers, demonstrating the brand’s ability to reach new audiences organically.

Turning Social Engagement Into Website Traffic

As DFC expanded, I developed its website into a central destination for resources, featured businesses, events, community information and the growing business directory.

From January through August 2026, the website generated approximately:

2,170 visits
2,000 unique visitors
4,800 pageviews

Website visits increased 31% year over year, unique visitors increased 32%, and pageviews increased 29%.

Traffic also demonstrates a healthy mix of brand awareness, social engagement and organic discovery:

  • 49.2% direct traffic

  • 25.7% social traffic

  • 23.6% search traffic

Facebook generated approximately 385 website visits, while Instagram contributed another 171, showing how social content supports movement from community engagement into owned digital platforms.

Creating Opportunities for Small Businesses

As the community grew, I expanded DFC beyond content creation and developed programs designed specifically to increase visibility for women-owned and creative businesses.

Initiatives have included:

  • A growing business directory

  • Featured Business editorial content

  • Recurring small-business resource sharing

  • Vendor and business spotlights

  • Networking opportunities

  • Collaborative promotions

  • Community partnerships

  • Event-based opportunities for entrepreneurs to connect directly with customers

These programs transformed DFC from a social network into a platform where members could gain exposure, build relationships and access opportunities that supported their businesses.

Pretty in Pink

One of the largest extensions of the DFC brand has been Pretty in Pink, a recurring shopping and networking experience created to bring the online community together in person.

The event series combines small-business shopping, networking, community programming and brand partnerships while giving women-owned businesses a physical platform to showcase their products and services.

I have helped lead the creative direction, branding, marketing strategy, vendor communications, promotional campaigns and overall community experience surrounding the events.

What began as an event activation evolved into a recurring DFC initiative that demonstrates how a digital community can translate into meaningful offline experiences.

Building Partnerships and New Experiences

As DFC’s visibility grew, so did the opportunity to connect members with larger organizations and experiences beyond traditional networking.

That evolution includes initiatives such as DFC’s involvement with the Philadelphia Union Women in Sports experience, creating an opportunity for community members to attend professional programming, hear from women working within the sports industry, and participate in an experience that may otherwise sit outside the reach of a traditional creative networking group.

These opportunities represent the larger direction of DFC: using the strength of the community to open doors, create access, and connect women with experiences that extend beyond social media.

The Impact

Delaware Female Creatives demonstrates how design can become the foundation for something much larger than a visual identity.

I built the brand from an idea into a growing community supported by social media, an owned digital platform, events, partnerships, business promotion, resources, and real-world experiences.

The project brings together nearly every area of my creative practice: brand strategy, design, marketing, digital experience, content, community development, leadership and partnership building.

More importantly, DFC demonstrates my ability to identify a need, build a brand around it, and continually evolve that brand as its audience, purpose, and opportunities grow.
